Bisset Singers at the Knox

The Bisset Singers at Knox Presbyterian Church, Cranbrook, Wednesday April 11th, 2012, 7:30 pm.

This was a bitter/sweet concert of wonderful music with exceptional arrangements. The slight shadow over the evening’s performance was the prospect of Tim Plait’s departure this coming fall. Tim has been the long time accompanist to the choir but he will heading off to Germany for further studies. He will be sorely missed.

Apart from the choral pieces there were the outstanding solo performances by Mary Pickering Web (Handel’s “Non Disperar), Brianna Colman ( Mozart’s “Un Moto Di Gioia”), Amanda Weatherall (Schubert’s “Gretchen am Spinrade”), Brianna Bock (Antonio Cesti’s “Intorno all’idol Mio”), Jim Belsham (the African American spiritual “Steal Away”), Tom Melnick (“We Rise Again”), Jocelyn Molnar (Handel’s “Lascia Ch’io Pianga”) and Tammy Ekman (Mozart’s “Voi Che Sapete”). Not to be forgotten is the “Flower Duet” from Delibes Lakme sung by Mary Pickering Webb and Amanda Weatherall.
